Let’s wrap up the week with a Fun Fact Friday, shall we?
Is it a tulip? Is it a wishbone? No! It’s a CLITORIS! Did you know the clitoris is WAY LARGER than just that little nub at the top of the ladyparts? It’s part of a larger system of erectile tissue: there are two shafts (crura) that are about 10cm (4in) long that are under the labia (inner and outer lips of the vulva). That’s what plumps the lips up during arousal.
But wait, there’s more! The urethral and perineal sponges at the top and bottom of the vagina are also erectile tissue – the former is upwards (also commonly considered the G-spot area), and the latter is between the vaginal opening and the rectum. Because they encircle the vagina, penetrative sex can induce orgasm for some women.
Extra fact: Did you know the clitoris is the only organ solely devoted to pleasure… and it has 8,000 nerve endings? The penis only has 4,000.
Well, on that cheerful note: enjoy your weekends!
